Three Newborn Feeding Secrets Every Parent Should Know

By August 1, 2025 No Comments

Breastfeeding gives babies the nutrients they need and helps to build their immune system. There are benefits for both you and your baby such as reduced risk of infections for your baby and lower health risks for you. Breastfeeding a baby can feel overwhelming but knowing a few helpful tips can make a big difference.

Three (3) Newborn Feeding Secrets:

  1. Your first breastmilk is enough for your baby. The first milk, called colostrum, comes in small drops and is perfect for your baby’s tiny stomach. You might not feel much change at first, but your body is already making what your baby needs.
  2. Learning to breastfeed takes time. Some babies take a few days to latch well. Be patient and ask for help early and often.
  3. It is normal for babies to cry more on day 2. Babies are adjusting to all the new sounds, lights, and people around them. Watch for signs your baby is hungry, like sucking sounds or putting hands near their mouth, and feed them when you see these cues. Rocking, patting, and soft voices can help calm your baby.
